Microsoft Plus XenSource Equals Good Times?

Who would have thought? Microsoft working with XenSource. A number of IT Pros seem to believe it stems from the desire to gain an edge in the server virtualization world. To be honest, this may be a good move as Microsoft needs to continue being innovative in order to keep up with the ever-changing open source server market. Yes, I said open source. Even though Mr. Gates openly exclaimed that open source was essentially “communism“, it seems that the software giant has finally drank from the kool-aid.
Others seem to believe that Microsoft is trying to make sure that their customer’s needs are being addressed. I like how that sounds, however I am afraid that I don’t buy it myself. Frankly, with the continued “suckage” of Vista, I see it as a basic survival technique.
But alas, it matters not what I think. In the end, I believe that Microsoft working with XenSource could be a really good thing for the user. It’s not a perfect solution for the company’s internal issues mind you, but it’s sure a lot better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
Hey, what do you think? Is this whole XenSource move a sign that Microsoft is now more now more receptive to open source ideas or instead, is this simply a tactic of a company in trouble? Email me your thoughts…
