Bill Gates Leaves Microsoft

Bill Gates is leaving Microsoft. OK, he may still be around in some figurehead kind of capacity. But in reality, things are being handed down to the new guard within Redmond’s walls. I guess Bill will be in good company. Robert Scoble, has also moved onto new projects and from I hear, is totally excited to see what the future holds.

Even though it’s always a little awkward to watch people you have come to know leave for other things, at least they are both leaving on good terms and in great spirits.

Bill has opted to become a full time humanitarian according to this recent piece from The Register. Robert on the other hand, is taking a stab at career change with a relatively new Podcasting support company. I have no idea who is supposed to be replacing Scoble, however I have heard that Gates’ position has indeed, already been filled.

Now if you are anything like me, you simply have to be wondering what difference this will make with Microsoft as a whole. In my opinion, very little. I suspect that their current “vision” or mission as you might call it, will remain on its current path.

You know it’s wild. To me, Microsoft and Bill Gates go together like peanut butter and jelly. Even though MS will move on with their existence just fine, I just can’t shake the feeling that this will be comparable to Sam Walton passing away and how that event affected Walmart.
