No Display On The Monitor

One common problem that occurs is that the operating system, such as Windows XP, never appears. In other words, the computer starts up but nothing appears on the monitor. Assuming that you have already ruled out the monitor as being the source of the problem, your next step should be to take a look at the video card.

This particular problem can be caused from several different things such as a video card that is not properly seated or a loose connection from the video card to the monitor. Troubleshooting this problem will require you to locate the video card inside your computer and verify the following:

Assuming that the video card adapter is separate from the motherboard, you should check that the card is properly seated. Sometimes one end of the card may creep out of the slot when it is initially screwed in resulting in no display appearing on the monitor.

Verify the correct jumper settings for video cards that are mounted to the motherboard. This will require you to check the documentation that shipped with the hardware.

The cable running from the monitor to the video port may also be the culprit. Examine the monitor cable to ensure that there are no broken or bent pins. A bent pin can usually be straightened using a pair of sharp-nosed pliers. In the case of a bent pin, you will need to contact the manufacturer of the monitor to determine if the cable can be replaced. Also check that the cable running from the monitor to the VGA port is secure. Although these may seem like simple troubleshooting steps, it is often the simple ones that people overlooked.

hello, can somebody help me find out, why before i reformat the game, it can be play but after reformat my computer, n then install the game i want to play, after install i double click on it, the game runnning but no display n no sound…….!!!! WHY????????

did u install your sound card??

if you didnt install if theres no such things that your game have a sound.. make it sure you install the sound card…

so that you have sound in game.

my pc got display when startup but after startup the windows my monitor dint display anything just black colour only . that means is what happend? and what i need to do? my windows is win XP

i accidentally disabled my NVIDIA video card because i kept recieve the BLUE error message stating that i disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. My computer rebooted and then i disabled the VGA adapter thinking it would re-enable the NVIDIA video card but i was foolish because now i cant get any display after the computer boots up. I know the computer is working because i can here the XP startup sound and all. I tried to boot into safe mode but it won’t load it just gives me a list of system files and then stops at agp440.sys. I also tried to boot with a boot disk but all it tells me is “the file hal.dll is missing or corrupted please install another copy of this file” after doing that it still wont boot. Now im stuck and cant do anything. Please help me re-enable the NVIDIA video card in the BIOS setup. I dont want to mess with the inside of the computer because all i did was disable the video cards. I have XP pro on a DELL dimension 8200 , NVIDIA geforce2 MX video card, Bios revision A04, please help i need it bad, im not a professional at this sort of stuff. please help.

i have a latest system installed, which is core 2 duo, 4gb ram, intel gcnl mother board….
i have installed windows xp in it, it is working superb, i have also installed windows vista but its getting loaded but display is not coming instead no signal appears,, i have installed graphics card & its driver also,
can u please me how to trouble shoot it………………
i even tried using windows vista 32 bit driver even though no display…..
please help me right now……………………..

you need to catch all the frogs jumping around inside your computer ime not joking, open it up and see,if you listen carefully you will hear them croaking on boot up, they need to be caught and put back inside your flux capacitor, you will find that inside your pc, next to the cpu.

No display on monitor problem- also check to see if all other peripherals are working i.e keyborad lights still come on and if your mouse has a light is it coming on?
If all not working the problem is possibly power supply to peripherals from motherboard.
If other perihperals seem ok then disconnect all motherboard connetions except the power supply and boot up, if problem persists, reconnect one by one to find problem, swicthing off and rebooting at each reconnect.
