A Golf Simulator?
A golf simulator? Yes indeed, I have a client who wants me to advise them on locating and installing a reasonably priced golf simulator for their son. What has proven to be a challenge thus far, is locating an option that I can feel comfortable in recommending.
Now I should be clear on one matter right away. Even back in my PC repair days, I don’t believe that I have ever been asked to install a golf sim. Regardless, I’ve been tasked with this little adventure. So let’s see what I ended up with…
Golf sims can be expensive!
This would have to be one of the first things that I noticed once I begun my research. My client was pretty clear that they wanted to do this on the cheap. So the fancy home systems were quickly scratched off of my list of options.
We have a winner!
After much research and digging, I finally found what I believe will prove to be the best option of all – the Golf Launchpad from Electric~Spin. Besides offering me a place where I can get all of my questions answered right away, I was also happy to learn that the game being used did not require a lot of computing power. A Windows PC running 256MB of PC133 along with a 800mhz CPU would fit the bill quite nicely.
Best of all, it also allows the user to skip all of that and run it from the Playstation 2. Can you say eBay? Yeah, that’s my thinking. If my client does not have an extra PC and monitor to spare, I am seriously considering having them take the console route rather than dealing with the headache of an extra PC. No matter which way you look at it, I’m thrilled that I was able to find such a viable option for a very reasonable price!
