I located this recently and to the best of my knowledge completely forgot to share it until today! Yes, that sort of thing happens from time to time I suppose.
So anyway, take a look at this: Yes, this is no joke. If you follow the instructions posted here, apparently you too can run IE 7 without actually having to install it. Pretty wild, eh?
Now who in their right mind would want such thing? Well I believe that people who are into development or even those of us that interested in the latest browsers out there would find this helpful. The wonderful part is that we an try IE7 and remain safely with the stable IE6 as the main MS browser on our PCs. To me this makes a lot of sense.
At this point you may be asking yourself whether or not there are any risks to trying this? The short answer is yes, perhaps. Anytime you start getting creative with your OS install, there is a certain level of risk whether we like it or not.
For those of you who may not feel comfortable in trying the method described above should take heart. Yup, I have one alternative for you; BrowserCam. The biggest thing I love about BrowserCam is that it allows you to see what your work will look like from the perspective of a large number of Web browsers. Not just Firefox and IE. No, they do Opera, Netscape and Konqueror as well. Another solid gold point is that they offer a gaggle of browser versions, too.
On the down side however, this is not cheap. With that being said, there are almost for sure cheaper alternatives out there for you to try if you would prefer. Just remember that you will get what you pay for…
