Ajax, Google and Microsoft

We must have seen this coming, right? Yes, the issue of Ajax and security has finally come to light it would seem. But the real question might be whether or not we are simply borrowing trouble by even contemplating what could be?
Personally, I think it is important to fully explore this issue. There really cannot be any question that with any new Web based technology, security issues will soon present themselves whether we like it or not.
Now here is another question: Will companies such as Google and Microsoft opt to begin the process of making Ajax a larger part of their virtual wares? Ah, now there is the million dollar question! With Google, we assume yes. And with Microsoft, we might assume that they will wait a little longer before truly throwing their full weight behind anything worthwhile in the Ajax realm.
OK, here is how I see this playing out: For the first time in a long time, I see Microsoft working to be the ‘first’ in areas where they feel they can make an improvement on existing technology. Pretty generic, right?
What if Microsoft took this opportunity with the Web app world and worked to overcome the obvious shortcomings of stuff that is already out there? Seriously, take the recent movement to create online operating systems. One of my big gripes is the fact that it’s useless unless you are connected to the Internet. If Microsoft found way to eliminate this issue with some sort of caching scheme, it would certainly turn my head! Services such as Live! are a good start, but it will be interesting to see where else they might be able to take this crazy Web app trend…
