Queuing theory is a complex series of mathematical calculations based on algorithms or “rules of thumb.” That is, the queuing algorithm is the amount of data specified by the byte-count for each queue. This means that even though the queue is not busy, data traffic may be delayed or queued based on an algorithm which holds traffic until the byte-count is reached. Custom queuing permits a maximum of 16 different queues.
