Gamer Server Woes

I suppose this is what happens when you mix business with fun. It all started when I was asked to sponsor a gaming server for Battlefield 2. Since I had an upcoming project who’s audience would certainly be of the gaming variety, I figured what the heck.
So I get myself set up on the following gaming server: 70.86.129.86 port 16567. I am able to connect without a single issue, no problem at all. Unfortunately, I have been hearing that others who have tried are not so lucky. Yes, they are getting that useless BF2 error know as “You have an older version than the server”.
Based on what I am able to determine, it is a punkbuster issue. Hmm, guess this is why I have avoided administrating a gaming server until now…
My thoughts are as follows: It does not make sense for this to be a client issue, as this appears to be happening to a number of people who claim that they have the latest patches installed. So this leaves the possibility that it is a punkbuster issue from the server side of things. Most likely, a new version that most other servers are not running and only the unlucky suckers creating new servers will have to deal with. OK, well it looks like it will be a long weekend as I will likely get nowhere with tech support on the issue.
Then again, on the off chance that someone out there has advice…I am all ears. And if you are able to connect and would like to play, please jump on in. I’ll be there!

Just wondering if you have tried BattleField 2142. We are having similar problems there as well. Crashes, loss of connection, etc.,. If you do play BattleField 2142, I would like to try your server and see how it does with that program. Thanks for your tiime..
