This is a comparison of various antennas and their directivity/directional transmission-reception characteristics. Directional antennas include Yagi-Uda arrays and Parabola-Parabolic-Horn antennas. Non-directional or omni-directional antennas include Whip-Rod antennas. Dipole antennas are semi-directional.
While this is a top view of antenna transmission, radio waves radiate in all three dimensions, which should be considered in selecting a specific antenna for a specific situation.
