Firefox Memory Leak Is Not The Real Problem

Recently I have been receiving email questioning the value of Firefox if they continue to allow the memory leak to go unchallenged. Recently, I have begun to share in the collective frustration. Well surprise, surprise! As I discovered from this link today, we are being bothered by ‘feature’ and not a bug!
What? This must be a mistake, right? Nope, not at all. And from the devs side of the fence, I can see how this whole subject must feel like it is never going to go away. Well here’s a thought - make this known before the install. Better yet, allow users to easily toggle this caching ‘thing’ off rather than forcing us to beat our heads against the wall as the browser decides to all but freeze.
For the meantime, try this:
In your address bar, goto about:config
Now look for this entry: browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers
From here, locate the number assigned to it. Right click on it and change it to 0.
Before trying this, understand something: Your page download time will suffer some. But if all else fails, you could just go back and change it back. And if you are just not all that comfortable with even trying such a thing, you can work to limit the number of extensions being run in the browser. This alone will greatly help to keep you from having a memory resource issue.
