Hello Outlook My Old Friend…

Never thought that it would happen, but it has. Apparently really warm places ‘way down south’ have officially frozen over - Matt Hartley has begun using Outlook 2003 for email.
As a Thunderbird user, I had been using Outlook 2000 for most of my PIM needs. Speaking as someone who actually woke up late at night from night-terrors brought on by Outlook 2002, the move was not an easy one. But alas, my life was quickly outgrowing what Thunderbird could provide me. My email needs had quite frankly evolved to a point where I had to have better integration with my PIM. I needed to make the switch because things were falling further and further behind.
On any typical work day, it’s not unheard of for me to wake up the following morning with what some call ‘wysiwyg-head’. Ya, I can almost see the programmers outwardly shaking your heads with understanding. For those of you that are not familiar with the term, basically I am saying that I’ve been known to fall asleep on my keyboard after working for countless hours straight.
OK, now that we have cleared that up. Let’s move onto the really big question: If Outlook 2003 is so great, why not switch earlier? Simple, their mail rules system is just as annoying as it has always been. I mean, seriously folks. The mail rules has a nasty habit of needing to be tweaked to a point of making me wonder why I am even bothering. Speaking as someone who uses a number of accounts, I decided instead to simply use POPFile for something a lot less strict.
Oh and my final reason for making the switch to Outlook 2003 came from the discovery of this program. Man, I fell in love with it the first time I used it! Keeping my PIM in sync on two or more PCs has never been so easy. Most importantly, it works exactly as advertised. If you are an Outlook user, you want this program!
