The animated TECHTip Tutorial is available here.
A database is a compilation of data objects/types organized in ways to enable users and programmers/developers to organize the database to provide applications such as would be used in a travel agency to manage reservations and flight information, manufacturing to organize parts lists, libraries to organize books by titles and authors, or anything that needs to be organized in different ways. Since middleware plays an important part in database networks, it follows afterward.
Different database applications work with different computing models or architectures. For example, server-side applications (also called hosted applications) allow different applications to be provided by different ASP Internet Web-based companies. This next-generation client (PC-terminal) -server (host) enhances users to use different applications from different vendors via the Internet.
