Installing And Uninstalling Internet Explorer 7

Lockergnome reported that the IE 7 Beta Preview has been released. Unsurprisingly, people are talking about it (a few slams, of course) in many places. Some people may have downloaded it and installed it, forgetting that newer versions of IE always take over past versions. Thanks to several excellent resources, it’s possible to uninstall IE 7 and run it separately without losing IE 6.

To remove IE 7 (Thanks, Techenclave):

Click Start / Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs.

Check “Show updates” radio box.

Scroll down the list to find Internet Explorer 7 and click Uninstall.

Restart and IE 6 is back where it was before IE 7 swallowed it up.

Instructions for running BOTH IE 6 and IE 7 here.

i tried removing IE 7 thru addd and remove programs… its still doesnt go..!! showin sum error.. related to wrong file in wrong folder…!! :( help!! i have to get rid of IE7..!! presently using firefox.. pls help.. pls

I removed it but IE6 is not well functioning and I need to reinstall IE6, is there a way to make it work again?

I’ve tried to uninstall Internet Explorer (all versions) from my computer and Windows XP won’t allow it to be uninstalled. I have written to Microsoft asking for their help, and they refuse to answer.

The IE7 product I currently have will not update, it freexes up nearly every time I use it, it will not show pictures, takes about five minutes to connect me to the internet, refuses to connect me to Google’s Gmail service nearly daily or freeses when I try to connect to a Google owned site, and now is refusing to connect me to the Windows Defender update site, giving some error code that is not described in any Microsoft page I can find.

I have also tried without success to delete other Microsoft programs and scripts on XP without success. Apparently they have filled their programs with hidden routines that reinstall anything you try to delete, refuse to allow you to delete, automatically install secret programs they tell you nothing about, take up lots of space without doing anything, have conflicts with other Microsoft programs, and on and on adinfinitum.

I cannot imagine in my wildest dreams how this company got so filthy rich by selling such crappy, poorly written software. The only way I can think they did so well financially is by charging exhorbitant rates for products they misrepresent. In any other industry that would be called FRAUD. Because they charge less than $500 per product, it is a misdemeanor in most states to do what they do. If they would raise their rates to be more than $500, maybe someone could successfully prosecute them for FELONY FRAUD.

They answer only to their stockholders and vendors (merchants) NOT to their end users who are the ones who actually pay for their useless products that come pre-installed on new computers. Then they refuse to tell their customers (us) how to get rid of the 95 percent of their crap that is useless or doesn’t work as they claim, or is outright crap.

Users ought to get together with the Federal Trade Commission and file tens of thousands of complaints documenting their REFUSAL to support their products, answer legitimate inquiries, and using deceptive marketing techniques to sell crapola. If they were in the swimming pool installation business and did the same thing, any district attorney in the country would approve criminal warrants against their key executives. Since they are in the interstate fraud business (in that they produce and market software over state lines) using false and fraudulent claims, and refuse to make refunds or adjustments for defective products, and refuse to communicate toward resolution of legitimate complaints about their products, and install secret spyware that cannot be removed without the purchasers advance knowledge or consent, they ought to go to prison for several years, instead of reaping horrendous profits.

It is amazing that no one has had their management arrested yet for their illegal activities, When organized crime bosses violate the federal RICO statutes, they go to jail. When Microsoft operates the same extortion racket, they make billions. What a load of #$%^.
