Is It Time For A New IT Job?

Could it be time for the PC repair folks of the world to dump the repair scene and begin looking into development? I am starting to think so and from the looks of things, I am not the only one, either.
While we may continue to see coder-work being sent overseas, there are very strong indicators that creative developers who can think for themselves and suggest new ways of doing things are going to be in huge demand for 2006.
Ok, perhaps you are simply not the creative sort. Maybe instead, folks think of you as a bit of a pessimist because you are always finding the downside or loophole in stuff others thought was secure? If this sounds like you, then I’d look into a security career. Please understand that security requires both attention to detail and the ability to problem solve quickly. I say this as I would hate to think that you feel like I am saying security guys have no imagination. On the contrary, security personnel have to be quick to come up with a plan of defense if all ‘heck’ breaks loose.
And last but not least, project mangers. This happens to be an area where I have been known to make an appearance from time to time. And having said this, I would suggest that being a project manager for anything where a set standard or example is nonexistent can prove to be a very exciting challenge, let me tell ya!
So, do any of these career opportunities catch your fancy? Perhaps one or two of them do, yet you have a concern or hurdle that prevents you from pursuing the new employment path? f you find that you have an obstacle, I’d love to hear about it. Heck, maybe I can offer some advice on the matter? After all, I am someone who is considered to a expert on doing what others said could not be done. Besides, when you add a dash of creative thinking along with a tablespoon of tenacity, anything is possible.
