SIP And Speak

Since part two of the Linux/Linspire series is still being worked on, I thought I might take a moment to share the following with you: SIP phone options that do not require using your PC. Today I found a neat device that allow you to basically combine your POTS phone service with your SIP phone account. To me, this is a great combo for those of you looking to save some money on long distance phone calls, yet are just not there yet with those big VoIP promises that we are always seeing on TV. The devices are reasonably priced and to be honest, you really can’t lose.
If you are feeling a little more brave with VoIP than some, then perhaps looking into this D-Link is the thing to do. Yup, the 1402S has most of what you might expect from a good phone-router. And since it is SIP ready, the configuration is a snap to get setup. Speaking for myself, I will say that the Call-in-One is more my speed. That and I would rather see this as a wireless router.
And finally, for those of you looking to take it to the next level, perhaps the FX-200 is just what the doctor ordered. Something really cool about being able to place free international calls by simply calling your home box from your mobile phone. I just don’t think I could argue with saving that sort of money, especially with frequent calls to specific parts of the world.
So now comes the big question. If you were to entertain any of these options (hypothetically speaking), which one would it be? Hit me back and let me know.
