In a SAN [Storage Area Network] plan, the initial step is to determine the RPO [Recovery Point Objective] with RPO-Zero meaning no loss of data. Next, RTO [Recovery Time Objective] is the time to return to retrieve data (replication) from remote or backup source. RPO/RPO values can be different for different applications, locations and other variables. In this instance, the wireline system (such as WTC/New Orleans) is not available, wireless is used. However, since wireless systems may not have the same bandwidth, new RPO/RTO values would be calculated.
A Hardware or Software Snapshot is a backup process that provides a consistent image (data) of a given file system or data volume (HDD [Hard Disk Drive]) at a specific point in time. When integrated with a complete backup and recovery, snapshots provide data protection and a high-availability (data administration) solution with little or no impact on performance of production servers or network resources.
