In a shrinking world, Choo Choo expands into new horizons with BellSouth. Choo Choo Build-It Mart is one of the fastest growing and most innovative building materials companies in the Southeast. Part of its success is based on the reliable data services from BellSouth that link 18 locations for effective communication. The building materials company, owned by VNS Corporation and headquartered in Vidalia, GA., has recently expanded to serve Florida and South Carolina markets as well.
BellSouth Managed Network VPN [Virtual Private Network] Service enables customers to “shift” to a managed network environment. The VPN Service is transported over BellSouth’s private IP backbone which is an MPLS [Multi-Protocol Label Switching] network to allow internetworking of multiple access methods (DSL, Ethernet, ATM, Frame Relay, and Private Line). MPLS is an advanced form of IP, adding “labels” or “tags” to provide for QoS [Quality of Service] and advanced routing. Since MPLS is often misunderstood, let’s see what it is. MPLS adds a shipping “label” to the IP packet. Multi-Service Switching Systems convert ATM/Frame Relay to IP. The online animation shows how MPLS labels are added into ATM “virtual” routing VPI [Virtual Path Identifier] and VCI [Virtual Channel Identifier] cells. Next, the online animation shows how MPLS labels are removed from the Frame Relay frame “virtual” connection address part of the DLCI [Data Link Connection Identifier].
Choo Choo has begun expanding to South Carolina and Florida markets and the flexibility of the service will allow it to easily expand its data network as well.
