Here are the basic features of WUSB [Wireless Universal Service Bus]:
- Bandwidth - 480 MBPS-MegaBits Per Second at approximately ~3 meters with scalable architecture to 1 GBPS and higher
- Power/Energy Management - Sleep/Listen/Wake - conserve power when not in use design
- Security - device simple Association and Authentication - encryption at application layer
- Compatibility - backward compatible with wired USB
WUSB has a number of ways to save PM [Power Management]:
- Conserve power during normal operation - turn off radio transmitter during MMCs [Micro-scheduled Management Commands] - host is unaware of device PM-Power Management
- Device(s) go to sleep - extended periods where device does not respond - Host is aware and does not schedule traffic
- Device disconnect - host is aware
- Remote Wake - remote devices use “Remote Wake” to alert (indicate) the host to wake up (turn on)
