Stormy Thoughts

While hurricanes are certainly nothing new for those in the south and southeast, discovering the amount of devastation that can be caused by a major storm is never something that sets well with anyone. In the interest of good taste, I have opted to hold off on my articles that I had ready for today. While I don’t consider anything in them inappropriate, I am leaning away from posting them with each passing hour since there are people out there who quite frankly have a lot more on their mind right now than what I had to talk about.
Thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of people are now homeless in the south. One person whom I have worked with myself just relocated to New Orleans not too long back. I just received an e-mail from him today stating that he is now without a home. It looks as if he will be relocating to Atlanta with some pretty grim prospects since everything he owns is now gone. Also, one of Lockergnome’s own who is a friend of mine lives in Georgia and told me in a phone call today that they were seeing tornado funnels just a few blocks away from where he lives. I tried to reach him yesterday, but the phones were not working. Luckily, he is just fine. But I never thought the effects would have been felt that far inland…
As many of you are already aware, this storm damage has been giving a pretty stern indication that we will be seeing an increased cost for our commodities thanks to an expected rise fuel prices. Since we were already stretched out on refinement facilities before this happened, we could not have had a storm like this at a worse time. My best wishes go out to all who have been affected by this tragedy and if you’d like to help, I would recommend contacting your local Red Cross. Come Thursday, I will be a little bit more able to return my content back to normal, I think. Thanks for listening.
