Windows Update For Firefox

During the past few months, I have come to the conclusion that I am only using Internet Explorer for Windows Updates, but that’s it. Now, I realize that everyone out there has their own reasons for loving or hating IE. And I am not here today wanting to debate which is better.
What I am going to do today is show you how you can update your Windows machine without ever having to open up Internet Explorer ever again. Yes, you read this right. Just so long as you are not using an ISP that requires Internet Explorer such as AOL, you can finally rid yourself from the browser forever if that is something that you should want to do.
But wait a minute - how can this possibly be so, right? I mean, you have to use IE just get those updates! Well, my friends, the shackles are officially cut off for good thanks in part to WindizUpdate. Not to be confused with the official Windows Updates site, this is the ultimate Firefox-ready alternative. So now the big question of the hour has to be: ‘Does this thing actually work?’ As hard as this may be to believe, yes, it actually works and works well. I took it upon myself to try and get my latest updates via Firefox version 1.0.4. I was shocked at how smoothly the whole process was. There was no speed reduction in comparison with using Internet Explorer and nothing locked up or crashed, either. All in all, I am very impressed. Since this is not a process native to Firefox, I really expected a lot more problems. Don’t get me wrong! I am not trying to borrow trouble here, but, man, this is so smooth.
Oh, on another Firefox related note. We have a contest that will be coming up within the coming weeks that also happens to involve a Firefox-related giveaway. I will make the announcement in a number of newsletters, so you’ll know it when I am ready to get that party started!
Let’s get digital!
