Selling your PC repair business. Is this even possible? To be honest, I really have no idea. But regardless, I think it is something that is worth exploring. A few days ago, I received some feedback suggesting that selling my business might be possible if I am looking at getting out of the repair business altogether. Loyalty to clients aside, I am not sure this can happen unless there are signed contracts stipulating payment for service for a set number of months/years. At least then it would be within the realm of reality, right?
I think of that old episode of Rosanne when Dan was trying to use his ‘drywall business’ as collateral. Then the loan officer informed him that he was the drywall business. In my mind, this is something that needs to be looked at. Unless you have contracts that have enough monetary value to be worth a hill of beans, I think it is a safe bet that you are going to have a tough time selling your PC repair biz.
What about retirement?
This is something that many self-employed people take for granted; myself included. Once things settle down, I plan on researching this and getting back to you with my findings. There is no way on the face of this Earth that my advice in this area would ever replace talking to a good financial planner (or even a good financial panther, depending on your species).
But I have a sneaking suspicion that there are actually a number of options out there for us in the wondrously wacko world of self-employment! Stay tuned and find out…
Hey, do you have a plan in place that works for you? I wanna hear about it! E-mail me at the link above and I will include you in the Thursday newsletter.
