RoboTask v2.2
One of the biggest complaints that I have with Windows is that even with SP2 out, it is still overly difficult for the non-power user. Granted, some anti-virus products and other utilities do a fair job working with the Windows scheduler, but for the most part it seems to be over the heads of most people.
Speaking personally, I say it has a lot to do with the UI. If the interface of scheduler is not up to a level that the average Joe (or Jane) can understand, then, as you might imagine, nothing is going to get scheduled unless the person in question decides to do it manually.
But alas, all is not lost. I just finished my review of RoboTask and man, am I impressed! Even being the critical sort of fellow that I am, RoboTask most certainly did not let me down in the slightest.
After I installed it, I was delighted to see the UI was insanely easy to understand. The part that excited me the most had to be the fact that at no time did I find myself diving into the documentation to figure out some remedial task. This software is honestly that simple to use!
So what all can RoboTask do for you, the user? Well, if it is something that you would like to schedule, then by gosh there is a simple way to have RoboTask automate that process for you. Allow me to give you a partial list:
- Run programs at set times or even print out reports on a schedule.
- Have the mouse actually move an object at a set time.
- Dialup or check a dialup connection.
- FTP files with ease while having lunch with your friends out of the office.
- Sync files and folders without concerning yourself with setting the correct arguments to make this happen successfully.
- Easily start and stop services.
There are literally as many ways to use this software as you could possibly imagine. But unlike using Windows task scheduler, there is no longer any need to spend hours trying to figure out the right combination of arguments and variables.
Now before you head on over to try this for yourself, realize that you can also set this up to alert you of folder changes and send e-mails for you as well. Folks, I am not going to sit here and say that this is the only way to automate all of your PC’s tasks. However, I will sit here and tell you that, in my opinion, this is the best way I have ever seen. Take a few minutes and take this program for a test drive. You are not required to buy it unless you think it is useful and as easy to use as I found it to be. But be warned now, you may find yourself spending the next few days automating everything in site just so you can use your time for other things altogether.
