IBM to Lay Off 13,000 Worldwide

It’s still sad to see a company that jump-started an entire industry get so bad that it has to resort to layoffs. They were one of the old-school companies that provided ‘cradle-to-grave’ care for their people and never had a layoff of any kind.

HP Drops the Ball

From the latest issue of Reseller Advocate magazine:

“The ability to provide a reliable solution in a timely manner is what earns VARs respect from their customers. While some have the notion that top-tier solution providers deliver the most consistent service and reliable hardware, what happens when the supply chain breaks down? You end up stressed and your customer gets upset. After struggling through my own ordeal with a customer insistent on HP, building white box servers is suddenly a much more attractive prospect. Please allow my ordeal to be your valuable lesson.”
