Free advertising. Is there really a way to accomplish this for your PC repair business? To be completely honest, yes you can get this to happen for you once a few things are in place. Today I will show you how press releases and other forms of promotion can provide you with free or, at least, almost free advertising.
Getting yourself in the paper for free.
How in the world can you possibly get you and your business into the local paper without paying a single red cent? Offer something back to your community, of course! As you likely have more time than money, offering a really thoughtful community service is generally the best way to go whenever possible.
Some great examples that often prove effective include an announcement that you are going to be providing a free home computing seminar at your local community center. Sounds like a lot of work, but it really isn’t. All you need to do is come up with a good presentation in either PowerPoint or Open Office in which you show people how they can avoid common mistakes that often mean becoming infected with spyware and viruses. Give them a visual of how viruses can get onto their computer system and how using and updating a good anti-virus can help to keep them safe from this sort of annoyance.
Now before the event is actually set to take place, you need to make sure all of the local papers and other publications in your area have notice that you plan on doing this. The cool part is that you will oftentimes find that you will actually be interviewed, thus having an opportunity to explain the business you are in - completely free of charge!
Use the coupons, silly!
Most people detest using coupons. But if you have an existing client base and your interest in expanding that base is high enough, then implementing a coupon campaign could be for you. Those PC repair folks out there oftentimes rely on some mindless mass mailing to get the word out on their business. This is not the most effective way to offer any type of coupon campaign, believe me. If you have a really happy customer who is thrilled with the service you provided, then you are going to find them to be a lot more responsive to handing out a coupon on your behalf. Heck, more often than not, my clients ask for a pack of business cards so that they can give them to their friends, anyway! Adding the coupon just seals the deal.
So whether you pull a publicity stunt to get your name out there or milk your existing database of customers for new leads, getting new clients is most certainly not an impossible goal, my friends. You just have to think outside of the box!
