Welcome to Just Ask Matt! Today, Jim writes:
I tried to install my Palm Pilot before using the software. After reading the instructions, it looks like I needed to have used my install CD before hooking up the USB cord to the computer. Now nothing will sync and I can’t seem to get anything working. Can you help?
Been there! Ya, this is a common oops that more people make than you might think. While I cannot attest to all Palm devices having this fix available, go to the palmOne Web site and click Support. Now head over to the device you own. Once you get there, you will want to look for the ‘help with hotsync’ area. You are going to follow the instructions for your Palm device until you find that nothing seems to help. This happens, but there is still hope. Go to this page and download the USB registry utility. It will correct the problem you are having and allow you to hotsync once again. It does not work 100% of the time, but it is worth a shot.
Do you have an IT-related question? Perhaps you are just burnt out on writing on the walls with crayons? Whatever the comments may be, drop me a line, and you too can “Just Ask Matt!”
