Microsoft Ships Out Win x64

True to my expectations, Microsoft has confirmed shipment of this quarter’s Action Pack today. I figured it’d wait until x64 launched, and it did. So I’m anxiously waiting for the package to arrive with a squeaky clean copy of x64 inside.

Still no details about the when and how for the XP Pro-to-x64 program, but I think that should show up inside a few weeks. I’d say Microsoft wants to get the initial rush out of the way for retail sales and then it’ll start taking care of existing customers. One thing you may be very sure of: no illegal copies will be eligible for free x64.

Windows XP Professional x64 Edition is designed to address the most demanding business needs of technical workstation users who require large amounts of memory and floating point performance in areas such as mechanical design and analysis, digital content creation, and scientific and high-performance computing applications.
