Books, Radio, And Other Forms Of Expression

The evolution of an idea is an amazing thing. Take Mitch Keeler’s eBook creation about Web hosting. Sounds like pretty run of the mill stuff, right? Wrong. If you are someone who is running a Web site on a shared server or is thinking about making the move onto a dedicated server, you might want to read what he has to say. With his experience in the wide world of hosting, you will likely find that his advice will play a major part in saving you from some seriously devastating hosting mistakes that even the most seasoned gurus are completely unaware of. Check it out - it’s totally worth it.

Moving on to happenings in my world. Brandon and I just released our interview with Rodney Rumford, the founder of My RSS Creator. A self described fan of RSS and Podcasting, Rodney, Brandon, and I take a little trip into the world of online syndication and distribution. We discuss everything from challenges that content providers are facing to the hurdles being felt by would-be Podcasters alike. The three of us had a great time with the interview and found that there was a lot more ground to cover than we had originally thought. Best of all though, we got to test out the new media related show format that Brandon and I had been working on. So far, so good!

Technology enthusiasts, worry not! We are still very much looking at technology and how it affects our day to day lives. We are just doing it from a ‘media related’ point of view. For instance, next week’s topics include:

Distance learning
eLearning and schools. Are new technologies something that could one day render schools as useless?

We felt that it’s important to explore the onward push of computers and online learning. Could it begin to include the use of Webcams and other such devices to allow for scholastic testing to take place from the home?

Flash technology
Could this be the death of the various non-DRM enforced media formats?

Rather than simply go off on theory, we will actually be looking at real life examples of this in practice along with the software that will enable you to get it done. As many of you may already know, Flash is not only cross-platform, but it can offer clean, streaming media without any buffering whatsoever, regardless of your connection rate to the Internet.

Well, folks, the rest of my content is not going to write itself, so I had better get at it. I sincerely hope that you appreciate the need for the format change at Changing Media. Then again, with a name like that… I bet I could get away with all the changes my little mind can churn out! After all, it is called ‘Changing’ Media, right? ;o)

Let’s get digital!
