There’s A Ghost In My Junk!

You know, eBay is a funny thing. If you know what you are doing, you can make money with just about anything on auction sites these days. Now keep in mind, I have seen a lot of crazy stuff in my time online. Weird Web sites, sorted schemes, etc. However, nothing struck me as more bizarre than the discovery that people actually try to sell ‘haunted items‘ on eBay.

Now at risk of labeling all who sell items supposedly possessed by ’spirits’ on auction site into the same group, I want to make something very clear. Most people who sell ‘haunted items’ on eBay are more than likely just looking for a way to get a load of cash in a hurry. Ever since that rumor about someone trying to sell ‘their soul’ and eBay shutting them down, folks have figured that if they attach something metaphysical to something physical like a cane or perhaps a chair, people will rush in to buy their crap.

So what is the real attraction, anyway? Money, plain and simple. The reality is that people believe that if they come up with a clever enough story for their ‘haunted items,’ people like you and me are going to rush on over and pay some ridiculous price. Now I can actually picture some of you sitting there shaking your heads. You are likely thinking that most people are smart enough to know better than to fall for this. Folks, like anything in life, this is a numbers game. If someone stumbles upon ‘haunted items’ being auctioned off on eBay, then chances are that they are in the market for or even in search of items that they want to believe are, in fact, ‘haunted.’

So what is to keep all of those who read this from trying the same thing right now? After all, the money would be nice, right? Well nothing is really stopping anyone. The truth is, eBay is currently full of people trying to do this sort of scam themselves right now. Besides that, even if you were the only one trying it, this gag/scam has already lost its originality and appeal to many. See, with the actual appeal gone, all you are really doing is wasting a lot of time and money.

Well folks, I had better get back at it. I have a busy day ahead of me. My ‘haunted boxer shorts’ are about to hit the end of the auction and I have a ‘haunted toilet seat’ that I need to get up onto eBay here sometime tonight. Have a great weekend!
