RegClean to the (Uninstall) Rescue – But not XP?

Thanks to all those who sent feedback. Several of you have reported that RegClean in NOT compatible with Windows XP. Though I have not had time to test this – in my support environment, I haven’t had to use RegClean on XP – it bears reporting. I would not want anyone to experience problems based on anything I recommend. With so many versions of things out there these days, it’s hard to keep up with.

If you have an XP box and want to clean the registry, I suggest you use Registry Doctor or Registry Mechanic. You’ll have to pay for these, but you could do a Google search to find free XP compatible tools.

In the meantime, if anyone has a specific issue that resulted from using RegClean on XP, please let me know. I certainly plan to make my own assessment and will report the results.
