Updating To SQL Server 2005
A few months ago Microsoft released the beta version of SQL Server 2005. In order to keep IT professionals up-to-date with new features and technologies, Microsoft also updated its list of training courses. For those of you who want to learn more about SQL 2005, Microsoft has released two new training courses. Each Beta 2 course is 3 days in length and they are designed to help you update your existing SQL knowledge and skills to SQL 2005.
Course 2733A: Updating your Database Administration Skills to SQL 2005 is geared towards those IT professionals who are responsible for supporting, configuring, and maintaining SQL Server databases and servers. After you complete the three-day instructor-led course, you should walk away with the following knowledge and skills:
- Describe the architecture of SQL 2005
- Install SQL Server 2005
- Use SQL administrative tools and utilities
- Maintain SQL Server 2005 servers and databases
- Secure a SQL Server 2005 server and database
- Monitor SQL Server 2005
- Implement a Backup and Restore solution for SQL Server 2005
- Implement a data availability solution with database mirroring or clustering
- Use enhanced SQL Server 2005 replication features
Course 3724A: Updating your Database Development Skills to 2005 is geared towards those IT professionals who are responsible for designing, building, querying and developing SQL Server databases and servers. After taking the three-day course, you should come out with the following knowledge and skills:
- Use the Development Tools provided with SQL Server 2005
- Use Transact-SQL enhancements to perform database development tasks
- Develop XML-Based Services with the Service Broker
- Implement Web Services using Native HTTP Endpoints
- Build Notification Services Application
- Implement Database Functionality with Managed (.NET) Code
- Build Client Application with the .NET Framework
- Build Administrative Applications with SQL Management Objects (SMO)
