One of the many certifications produced by CompTIA is the Network+ exam. This exam is designed to test a candidate’s knowledge and skill on installing, configuring and troubleshooting network hardware, peripherals, and protocols. Many of the CompTIA certification exams, including Network+, have become standard for those entering the Information Technology industry. Microsoft has even recognized the importance and value of the CompTIA certifications as you can now use selected CompTIA certifications towards your MCSA and MCSE. For example, you can use the Network+ exam in place of one of the Microsoft electives.
Technology advances all too quickly and in order for certification exams to remain valid and relevant in today’s computing world, the exams must be upgraded along with these technical advances. CompTIA recently announced changes to the Network + exam. As of 2005, the certification objectives will be upgraded to include new technology. For example, the new exam objectives will likely include more questions on wireless technologies. So if you are studying for the exam or plan to take it in the future, you should plan to take the exam before the end of 2004, unless of course you want to take the new exam.
You can find out more about the new 2005 Network+ exam objectives at the CompTIA Web site.
