Sticking with Exchange for a bit, a new version of my favorite GFI product has been released. I know I tell you about their new stuff fairly often, but that’s only because I like their products. Anyway, version 10 of MailEssentials for Exchange/SMTP brings improvements to the Bayesian filtering, and added archiving features. The ability to automatically archive e-mail to an SQL Server database is pretty cool, particularly given my ongoing spam tally.

Oh, it just dawned on me that I haven’t updated you on the spam thing in a couple of months. Here are the verified spam message counts consuming nearly 700MB in a single Outlook PST file:

  • January 2004: 5,302 (171 per day)
  • February 2004: 5,566 (192 per day)
  • March 2004: 7,120 (230 per day)
  • April 2004: 7,047 (234 per day)
  • May 2004: 6,493 (209 per day)
  • June 2004: 6,237 (208 per day)

Interestingly, a slight drop has been seen in each of the last two months, but only 5 days into July shows over 1,300 messages already identified as spam. If that trend continues, July will clear 8,000. Just when I thought the spammers might be taking a summer vacation… [Furo]
