MacBook Air - Can you afford portability?

So most of us know that one of the biggest announcements and Macworld 2008 was the MacBook Air. It is the thinest notebook of the world, obviously making it ultra-portable and fantastic to look at. Its sleek design makes most people I have met fall in love with it, especially if they are technology enthusiasts.

But, can you really afford this kind of portability? So you can carry this laptop around with you near enough wherever you go, it’s got great features like multi-touch gestures and it has a full size keyboard with a generous screen. This sounds wonderful at first, but when you see that price tag sometimes your excitement can go down the tubes.

$3000. For a laptop? Are you serious? $3000? You must be joking. But no, it’s true, and just because it fit’s into an envelope, and it has these fancy yet ingenious features, Apple wants to justify charging you $3000 for it.

I certainly will not be buying the MacBook Air, and I know not of anybody that has got it (minus Ponzi). I’m very happy for her, but for other’s, my main question is can you afford the MacBook Air? Does the price put you off all of it’s features? It’s sleek design? Do you think the price is too high? Do you even think the price is too low for what you get? If you have any comments on that or just the MacBook Air is general, leave a comment to this post.
