iPod or iPod Touch?

The iPod Touch. An iPod that looks very much like the iPhone, with the same touch screen technology. Even though the iPhone has a built in iPod Touch, music lovers who are on a budget and don’t want a new phone can just buy this musical equipment on it’s own.

Do you prefer the iPod or the iPod Touch? If you haven’t tried one or both, which one appeals to you more, and which one would you prefer if you were to get a one. What are your pros and cons of each? Is is complicated or fussy to get your fingers in the right place on the touch screen, or do you not like the scroll on the regular iPOd.

It is, an obvious thing to say, if you can’t stand the scroller on the regular iPod which allows you to go through your music, or you prefer more style or a more iPhone looking gadget you can go for the iPod Touch. If you find it fidley to get your fingers in the right place on the touch screen, buy a regular iPod, or get a regular one if you are a bit tighter on the budget.

The only real difference I can notice with the iPod Touch is the style and likeability of the touch screen. For more comments on touch screens and what I think of them you can search for my post on Lokcergnome entitled: “Are you hooked on touch screen?”

I’m going to choose the Touch, but I will wait 18 months. Then I think we are on 3rd gen and will have it with a large hard drive.

Its a bit funny that this article should show up in my email this morning, since I just went through the dilema presented in it. My last iPod was on its last leg, so I had to decide what I was going to replace it with. I decided to go with an iPod touch. On a more ironic note, I read the email message, this article and posted my comment all from my iPod touch. I’m finding that the typing is getting very easy with it, and I’ve only had it a little over 2 days. Now, I’m starting to think that should have just gone with an iPhone. My problem with that was I wanted more capacity. I am already using 14 of the approximate 14.8GB of space available on this thing. So overall, I’m very happy with my purchase.

The reason to buy a iPod over the iTouch is simple. The amount of music you can carry with you. After all a MP3 player is used to listen to music not watch it. I know the trend is for an “all-in-one” device but Apple missed the mark when the put a small drive in the iPhone. So back to iPod vs. iTouch, if you constantly play with the screen I am sure your battery life will be much less than “Smart Play lists” that both support. But you are more likely to use “Smart Play list” on the iPod than on an iTouch because of the touch screen.

I have an MP4 touchscreen (NOT made by/for Apple). Has a nice sound card built into it…a bigger screen & easier to use than any MP3/MP4 player I have ever seen. Sure…it costs more than a “normal” MP3/MP4 player…but have found my device smokes anything out there with a turnwheel & button.

I got an iPod Touch 16GB from my sister for christmas. I found that it was better than the iPhone (for cost reasons more than features) and i explained that in my blog located on my website. http://www.lockergnome.com/thetb

Feel free to have a look :)
