Firefox 3 Beta 1

Well, here I am. Doing my ever first browsing and very first post at Lockergnome through Mozilla Firefox 3 Beta 1. At first,when you open the browser, nothing seems to have changed. But, let’s take a more detailed look into the very raw version of the highly acclaimed browser.

A cool little new feature in Firefox 3 is if the author of the website or the website owner has stated who they are, clicking on the favicon, which is in the address bar for the small percentage of people who don’t know, it will tell you who owns the website and possibly so more information. The only problem with this is how many people actually add their name as the owner of the site?

The browser also claims that it has a blacklist of malware, and it will warn you if you come across a site which has been credited for installing things like spyware, malware or viruses onto people’s computers. However, the website states that the blacklist is not yet active.

The site says that it also warns you if it’s suspected a site you are about to visit is a forgery. You can see what will appear by clicking here.

The browser is set to warn you when it comes across a site which does not have a valid SLL certificate. The information page will appear like this.

And a cool feature I think is that a little star button next to the address bar will add the page as a bookmark, quite quickly, but maybe not as quickly as CTRL+D, which will load the same little box below the star.

All in all my first impressions seem to be liking the new features in Firefox. I am going to go have a play in Mozilla Heaven.
