BBC News Technology reports…
Internet Service Providers urgently need to roll out the next generation of net addresses for online devices, internet pioneer Vint Cerf has said.
Every device that goes online is allocated a unique IP address but the pool of numbers is finite and due to run out around 2010.

It’s called IPv6 - everyone is already on the way.

Sorry but that is incorrect.
We currently use IPv4 and if we used this until 2010 we will run out of IP addresses. By the time we get to 2010 we will be using IPv6. IPv6 has a much bigger range so it wouldn’t be a problem.
