WeatherBug.com Is Getting A Makeover

WeatherBug.com is getting ready for what will be a new facelift that I believe is going to be a very pleasant surprise for WeatherBug fans everywhere.

Now I should note that at the moment, this is still in “Beta”. This translates into the new website appearance being under development and means that there may be minor issues to still be worked out.

A brand new menu layout

Designed to provide WeatherBug visitors with the easiest menu experience possible, the new menu setup is based at the top, rather than on the left. More importantly, you no longer find yourself loading a new page to expand the menu options.

Local weather, forecast and radar options each roll out as you hover over them with the options you’re looking for. At no time do you have to leave the page to utilize the menu, which is a real time saver.

Fahrenheit to Celsius, and back again

Changing your temperature units is simple, just click on F or C for the unit you prefer, without ever even leaving your weather page. One quick page reload and you’re all set.

Clean new current weather and forecast layout

As you can see from the screen captures above, the new WeatherBug.com will have a very clean and easy to ready weather section. I happen to be partial to the new 7-day forecasts myself, really digging how this all came together with the daytime/nighttime color contrasts.

Silverlight for maps

In an effort to go to levels of functionality that Flash and CSS simply can’t provide, Microsoft’s Silverlight technology is in full effect from WeatherBug’s interactive map to WeatherBug’s hurricane tracker.

Take the beta website for a spin

If you’re interested in what the new website will look like and want to get a handle on the latest additions and features, then simply visit this link to visit the preview of the new WeatherBug.com.

Remember, this is not the live website yet. So your feedback is sought out and appreciated. To share your feedback, simply look for “Tell us what you think” at the upper left side of the main page of the link above.

Also, if you’re an Internet Explorer 8 user, the new WeatherBug website also provides Web Slices functionality as well. This means you will be alerted when new events become available.
