WeatherBug’s In The IE8 Add-on Gallery
Most WeatherBug users are aware reading this likely have used or at least have heard of the WeatherBug Extention for Mozilla Firefox. It’s been very successful, so much so that coming up for something on the Internet Explorer front was the obvious next step. Today I’d like to share with you not one, but two different IE8 add-ons that I think you will find to be very cool.
Add-on #1: WeatherBug Search Provider
Having multiple search providers can be really helpful, especially when you’d like to know the forecast…without needing to have a set location in each instance. This is where the WeatherBug search provider can come into play. Just install it, them set your search settings to reflect WeatherBug as your new search source. Now as you can see in the above screen shot by clicking on it, I set the search up as Seattle, WA. My returned result was the local weather for Seattle, WA! It’s actually pretty cool to try out.
Add-on #2: WeatherBug Accelerator
Now IE8 accelerators, are something that are unique to IE8 specifically. They allows you to highlight something of interest, then click on a small blue box that appears to provide more information about that highlighted text. By default, your choice for searching about the highlighted content is Bing.
WeatherBug now has an accelerator of their own! And as you can see from the above screen shot above, it really awesome to use when you are highlighting zip codes or city/state text for further investigation. To use this, just install it from this page.
Always something cool in the WeatherBug Lab!
There is more to WeatherBug offerings than just browser add-ons. Check out WeatherBug Labs for some of the latest and greatest goodies being put through their paces. Some cool stuff worth checking out includes WeatherBug desktop for Windows 7 and of course for the developers out there, the WeatherBug API.
