WeatherBugMost of you have had an opportunity to try WeatherBug for the Windows desktop or perhaps WeatherBug Alert, which is perfect for systems with less resources. But what about something fun for those who like to work with the command line?

WeatherBug actually does have a command line application for those who are interested in trying it out.

What can it be used for?

The command line WeatherBug application is designed for integration with remote rain sensor information into a home control system. For example, if you have a home automation system that happens to control your sprinklers, integrating WeatherBug for the command line will tell the home automation system NOT to run the sprinklers if it has already rained that day.

Is this for everyone or just developers?

Anyone is welcome to try this out as the download includes a WeatherBug developer ID ready to be used. But those who are likely to get the most use out of it are going to be developers looking to integrate weather functions into existing systems.

WeatherBug for non-developers.

For those using a Windows desktop that are looking to use WeatherBug from a GUI standpoint, there are three options to choose from.

  1. WeatherBug Plus – WeatherBug’s most full featured consumer product.
  2. WeatherBug – Ad supported, but free of charge.
  3. WeatherBug Alert – This is simple an alert icon that will allow you to access weather alerts from your default browser.
