WeatherBug Application Wraps Rock

One of the most sought after features for WeatherBug Plus users has been more control over the appearance of their WeatherBug Plus desktop application. Up until now, there have been options for changing what is known as the ‘application wrap’ that surrounds the paid Windows app, but WeatherBug Plus users were quite clear about wanting more application wraps to choose from.
Today, I have just received word that WeatherBug has heard this request loud and clear. The powers that be in the design dept have already begun work on what will amount to a sizable shift in selection of WeatherBug Plus wraps that are currently available. Some examples of new options and what to expect can be seen below.
As you can see from this sample, this selection will be catering to those WeatherBug Plus users who happen to be basketball fans.

Hockey fans are often times as fanatical about their weather as they can be with their sport of choice, just don’t tell them I told you. Seriously, this has to be one of my favorites wraps as it is so realistic looking. Just look at the puck smashing through the ice!

Despite WeatherBug sports fans, other WeatherBug Plus users appreciate seeing an antique look to their weather application. No other weather application that I know of offers this kind of authentic look.

As you may have guessed thus far, these are the first few of many application wraps yet to be released. And as I have been told, there will be more created and released each quarter totally thirteen for the year of 2008. And you are able to change these wraps around on a whim, you are never locked in.
Why “wrap” the application in the first place?
Simple - because it feels more at familiar when it’s representative of something you are either interested in or enjoy in the real world. And for this quarter, Antiques, Basketball, Ice Hockey are talk of the town.
Why WeatherBug Plus? Is it just about the application wraps?
Unlike the main free WeatherBug application for Windows, the Plus application offers functionality that the free app does not. Free of any banner ads, WeatherBug Plus also provides its users with the following exclusive features.
- Regional Lightening Maps - If you live in thunderstorm country, you will immediately understand why this real time data (10 mins apart) , updated with the actual lightening strike info pays for the application by itself. Use this feature to stay ahead of a coming storm as it happens.
- Historical Weather Data- A weather fan favorite, this feature alone has been known to settle weather related arguments and settle scores as to what the weather was really like a few months back. Being able to compare this data often presents some interesting trends.
- Monitor up to Six Locations- For people who do a lot of traveling, like truckers or business travelers, this can be a real life saver when added to a notebook computer running Windows Vista or XP.
So if all of this sounds interesting, I would suggest giving it for a try. While it shares similarities with the free WeatherBug application for Windows, I would remind you that the Plus app offers a lot more functionality and it is free to try out before making the purchase.
