Cenegenics: Scam or Not, Here Are 10 Diets That Work

Cenegenics: scam or not, there are other diets that will get you the same results for less money. Probably the best advice, though: if you’re trying to lose weight, eat better quality food (possibly in lesser quantities) and move around a little more. Or just make sure that most of your food sources are sealed in unopenable jars. [Image shared by Chris Pirillo via Flickr]

Not too long ago, we published Cenegenics: Scam Or Scientific Age Management? here at LockerGnome. We got a little commentary from both sides of the argument, but the truth remains that whether Cenegenics is a scam or not, it claims to help you age slower and lose weight, then slaps on a hefty price tag.

Fortunately for you, there are plenty of ways to achieve good health without exhausting your savings and relying on potentially dubious hormone and steroid treatments, like those provided by Cenegenics. Scam or not, here is a list of 10 Cenegenics alternative diets that actually work and will help you achieve good health well into old age — and have money left over to sustain you through those years to come!

Cenegenics Alternatives

Volumetrics Diet

The Volumetrics Diet consists of eating low-energy foods, such as fruits, vegetables, low fat dairy foods, and soups. You can work in high calorie foods if you need to, but the idea is to eat a high volume of low-calorie foods so that you fill up on foods with more nutritional elements.

Mediterranean Diet

There is a general claim that people living in Mediterranean countries enjoy healthier weight and fewer occurrences of cancers and heart disease. This regional diet emphasizes beans, whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and occasional fish, chicken, and dairy products.

TLC Diet

The Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes Diet is associated with cutting down on cholesterol levels for weight loss. With this diet, saturated fats are strictly avoided, cholesterol intake is lowered, and foods high in fiber are recommended.

DASH Diet

DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. This diet is intended for preventing high blood pressure and lowering weight. This diet recommends low-fat dairy, fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats.

Mayo Clinic Diet

The Mayo Clinic Diet closely follows the guidelines in the book of the same name, which recommends the calories you need to cut to lose weight, as well as where your calories should come from.

Vegetarian Diet

The Vegetarian Diet is fairly straightforward and works well for weight loss and a healthy cardiovascular system. With this diet, stick to vegetables and plant-based proteins, while avoiding meats. It is also a good idea to avoid fatty foods and sugary foods.

Flexitarian Diet

The Flexitarian Diet is like the Vegetarian Diet, except that it allows you to be “flexible” when you would like to eat meat. This diet emphasizes nuts, eggs, lentils, tofu, and beans for a protein source, as well as fruits and vegetables.

Weight Watchers

The Weight Watchers Diet operates on a point system that specifies which sorts of foods you should be eating. Nutritious foods are emphasized, while foods with empty calories should be avoided. This diet is both for losing weight and eating healthy.

Traditional Asian Diet

This diet is based off of the observation that individuals living in Asian countries tend to have less chronic diseases and weight problems. This diet emphasizes rice, fruits and vegetables, noodles, breads, and nuts. You can eat leaner meats and eggs in moderation. Red meat is only for rare occasions.

Jenny Craig

The Jenny Craig Diet, though a little more pricey, is one of the easiest diets to follow due to its pre-packaged foods. This diet has you cut down on calories, fat levels, and food portions. This diet will help you lose weight fast.

If you’re looking to take charge of your health, we’re pretty sure that you can skip out on Cenegenics — scam or not — and find a healthy, reasonably priced diet that you can adopt for life!
