In an effort to stay on top of the mobile PC market, Fujitsu will be partnering up with Cornice.

Fujitsu Ltd. said Friday that it will partner with Cornice Inc. to develop a line of 1.8-inch hard disk drives, and bring its 2.5-inch mobile drives to PCs.

Fujitsu, which has largely ceded the mainstream 3.5-inch hard disk market to competitors like Seagate Technology, currently designs 3.5-inch drives for the enterprise space as well as a line of 2.5-inch drives for notebook PCs. Fujitsu said its planned expansion was made with the goal of becoming the third largest disk-drive maker in the world in its fiscal 2008 year. [Read the rest]
