Via Technologies released on Thursday a free software add-on that allows Java software to draw on the hardware encryption capabilities of its C7 and C7-M processors.

Via’s Java Cryptography Service Provider (JCP) gives desktop and online Java programs the ability to access the AES encryption and random number generation capabilities of Via’s PadLock Security Engine, the Taipei, Taiwan, company said in a statement. [Read the rest]
