My first question of course is whether or not the new CTO reported for work wearing those now infamous boxing gloves that we are always seeing in the IBM ads? Just a passing thought…
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept 7 (Reuters)—Advanced Micro Devices Inc. named Phil Hester, the former chief technology officer of IBM’s personal computer division, as its new technology chief, replacing Fred Weber.
Hester joins the computer chip maker most recently from server computer maker Newisys, which built computers with AMD’s Opteron microprocessors. Newisys is a unit of Sanmina-SCI Corp.
Hester spent 23 years at International Business Machines Corp. in several management positions, most recently as chief technology officer of the PC division, AMD said. [Read the rest]
