HP Compaq Presario V2000 (Sempron)

This review of the HP illustrates many of my thoughts on HP notebooks in general. I really enjoy the reference to the Averatec AV3270-EE1, definitely helps to drive the point home.

The HP Compaq Presario V2000 ($699 as tested) is a value notebook in the truest sense of the word. It’s void of all bells and whistles found on more expensive systems, but it performs well and comes with the basic necessities—namely a 40GB hard drive, a DVD/CD-RW combo drive, and an AMD Sempron processor, that will get you through the daily grind.

There are no aesthetic differences between the Sempron- and Turion-based V2000s. You’ll find nothing flashy here. The design is conservative: a silver case with a black interior. Carrying it around the house, campus, or office will be a breeze, since it weighs a very portable 5.4 pounds (system) and can easily slip into most laptop bags. [Read the rest]
