Happy, shiny…LCDs? I’m sorry folks, but the BenQ FP72V looks freaking amazing as far as I am concerned! If I had the spare coin, I would think that this display looks like it would knock my socks off.

BenQ is introducing a variety of new display products at Computex 2005, including a DLP (digital light processing) projector, a 17-inch LCD monitor, a 72-inch DLP rear-projection TV (RPTV) and LCD TVs with sizes ranging from 20- to 46-inches.

The 17-inch monitor (FP72V) offers a “family friendly” feature with a light sensor that automatically adjusts the brightness of the monitor based on the ambient lighting in the room and a timer that automatically lowers the brightness and contrast after a prescribed period of time. There is also a durable built-in protective film that helps safeguard the LCD monitor screen from scrapes and scratches.

The product was shown at the 2005 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas and hit the European market this March. It will be introduced in Taiwan later this month.

BenQ is also highlighting a new projector (the PE8720), which supports 1,280×720p resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio, a 6,200:1 contrast ratio, a 1,000 ANSI lumens brightness and weighs 9kg. The product will be available soon in both Taiwan and overseas markets. [Read the rest]
