So, are you interested in turning that PSP into a personal movie player? Then you will want to read up on this article to learn how one writer managed to do this.
I made the costly mistake of stopping by Best Buy today. I was planning on checking out thier current selection of DAPs, grabbing a movie, and playing with all thier toys. A cheap way to blow an hour or two. I do this like twice a month, it’s a tech-fetish. Today was the first time they had any PSPs in stock. Gameboy SP, that’s been around for awhile, it never interested me. I’m not a gamer, mind you - still running a GeForce 4200 (IIRC) in my main PC and nothing but built-in GPUs inside my others. I like games, sure, but where’s the time? Work, DAPreview, family, drinking, etc… nothing left. I’d rather be doing something more/less productive I guess. Anyway, I ask the nearest Best Buy slob to see a PSP, because there wasn’t any demo-unit on the floor. I know its supposed strengths as a portable Playstation and its weaknesses as a media player but you never really know a device until its in your hands. So the guy runs and gets it, hands it over, and… oh yeah… it’s cool. The gadget-geek in me was hit by the screen quality and slickness of the design/build. Me dig. Sold, even. Bought the PSP and Ridge Racer for $ 250 and $ 40, plus tax (ugh!). A movie called “Appleseed” too. Saw a commerical for it, looks like a fun bit of anime. I usually buy everything off the net (no tax), but you know how it is… once it was in my hands, game over man. [Read the rest]
