Memorex adds DuraLayer robust coating to its mini DVD line

OK, who cares? Right? Actually, you should. With this extra protective coating being added, you might just find that the mini DVD products using this sort of protection last a whole lot longer than they would otherwise.

Memorex, a well known brand for optical discs has announced that they will protect its entire line of mini DVD products (DVD-R & DVD-RW) with its DuraLayer scratch-resistant hard coating technology. This layer protects the disc against scratches and dust that would ruin regular DVD media. As the main use for mini DVD’s is in DVD camcorders, this will allow the consumer to preserve their priceless DVD-R recordings as well as get many more reuses from DVD-RW’s.

According to Memorex, their mini DVD line is gaining popularity, thus indicating a greater popularity in products that make use of mini DVD’s. Besides usage in a camcorder, these mini DVD’s can also be used for holding up to 1.4GB data such as video content, music or carrying 2 CDs worth of data on a small 8cm disc.

These DuraLayer mini DVD’s will be available nationwide and sold at US$17.99 RRP for a pack of three mini DVD-RW’s in mini jewel cases or a pack of five mini DVD-R’s in mini jewel cases. [Read the rest]
