Once again, another camera with a ’so-so’ design. While some might argue that this review was a little one-sided, I really think that it was pretty accurate for the most part. But that is just my take on it.

Fujifilm FinePix Z1 digital camera preview : Just before the big event the PMA show 2005 in Orlando, Florida USA kicked off, Fujifilm surprised design lovers with the introduction of the Fujifilm FinePix Z1 digital camera. This incredibly neatly designed digital camera is a real jewel to look at. The Fujifilm steals the show with a beautiful mat shaded black metal housing, and the camera shows its high class. Fujifilm has a long history in the field of photography and the camera that makes photography possible. The commencing of producing a digital camera already lies far behind us and it is a good feeling to experience the digital evolution from the construction of the first generation of digital cameras until the new Fujifilm FinePix Z1.

Despite the very compact size of the Fujifilm FinePix Z1, a mere 18.6mm thick, the camera is equipped with a 3x optical zoom and an image sensor from the 5th generation stable of Super CCD HR’s. Besides the fantastic result achieved by the design department the power from the engine isn’t bad either. The Fujifilm Z1 distinguishes itself from its predecessors because of the Real Photo Technology. This newly developed technology links a high quality Fujinon lens to a new blazing fast RP image processor which together combine to a perfect working combination. The first impressions showed by our Japanese colleagues are extremely promising. During our visit to Fujifilm Netherlands, a large format poster was shown, created by using the Real Photo Technology and no suspicions arose of dealing with a small digital compact camera.
