Hitachi readies LCD panel breakthrough

LCDs are cool, no question there. But are they fast enough with their response times? Apparently this is something that Hitachi was concerned about. According to The Inquirer, they will be using active matrix LCD technology to tackle this head on.

Hitachi will soon start producing active matrix LCD technology which offers the prospect of faster performance, a report in the Nikkei Business Daily said.

Hitachi Displays will aim the panels initially at digital cameras and for mobile phones which uses technology it invented to speed up response times.

The newspaper claimed that the panels, using Hitachi’s Selax process, will give between two to three times performance gains and also integrates semiconductors inside the panel, rather than on peripheral boards. The panels also provide higher pixel densities, the report said, here. [Get the links]
